The port of Chmaâla is located on the Mediterranean coast in the province of Chefchaouen, about 50 km southeast of Tetouan. It was built in 2009 to improve the living and working conditions for local fishermen.
The port of Chmaâla is located at 35°12 '28'' North and 4°39'59'' West. It is located about 75 km north of the city of Chefchaouen ion the R414 regional road connecting the city of Tetouan and the center of Jebha.
The Department of Marine Fisheries launched the construction of the port of Chmaâla in 2006, as part of its national strategy for the creation of fishing villages and improving living and working conditions for local fishermen. Construction of marine structures was completed in August 2007 and the development of superstructures in 2009.
